Chris started in construction before he could legally drive — helping his grandma landscape her backyard, then learning to frame, sheet, and install steel barns alongside his uncle, who paid him in paintball guns and Xboxes. By high school he was building decks and fences. Just before turning twenty-one, he was framing custom home structures full-time as a cut man.
From there, he took a job as a laborer with Sterling Custom Homes — and was promoted to superintendent within six months. After a few years there, he moved to Joubert Development, a small boutique builder in Denver, where he was the only employee for a married-couple ownership team and learned estimating, sales, and the full client-facing side of the business.
He then spent time consulting and running projects for Marc David Homes and Elk Grove Custom Homes — both companies recruiting him directly off relationships built at Sterling and Joubert. Across every stop, Chris was learning the same thing from a different angle: what trades actually struggle with on a job site, what clients actually complain about after the fact, and what a better way of running a build would look like.
It was clients at Elk Grove who first told Chris and Brooke they should be the ones running the show — not just executing someone else's projects. That feedback was the final push. Chris asked Brooke to be his partner, and Divergent Custom Homes is what came out of it: the best practices from every company Chris worked with, plus years of direct client feedback about where contractors typically fall short, built around one core idea — treat every client like a partner, and do the work to actually change the stereotype around contractors who perform poorly, whatever form that takes.
Divergent operates as a structured S-Corp with a physical office in Parker, Colorado — not a one-truck operation juggling jobs out of a glovebox. Most of our work comes through referrals from local architects, interior designers, and past clients across the Denver Front Range, not cold advertising. That's the kind of reputation you build by showing up the same way on every project, not by overpromising on a sales call.

Our team is here to answer your questions and help you get started on turning your vision into reality.
Chris leads sales, marketing, and high-level estimating — the strategic side of every project, from first conversation through final pricing. He's been in construction since childhood and worked his way from framing crews to superintendent to estimating before starting Divergent (full story above)
Tad manages trade scopes and day-to-day field coordination, making sure the right crew is in the right place at the right time across every active job. He also handles estimating and change orders, so the numbers stay tied directly to what's actually happening on site.
Cameron is on-site daily, enforcing the quality control checklists that catch small issues before they become expensive ones. He also handles daily logs and progress photos on every active job, so you always have a real, current record of where things stand.
Brooke runs operations, HR, and financials — the systems that keep every project on schedule and on budget behind the scenes. Her background in business management and design means the numbers and the craftsmanship get equal attention.
Suzanne drives permitting and contract administration — the unglamorous but critical work that keeps projects moving through Douglas, Arapahoe, and surrounding county requirements without delay. She also handles invoicing and pays our trades and vendors, which is a big part of why our trade partners stay loyal to us.
Korben keeps job sites clean, organized, and running smoothly — handling material pickups and deliveries and stepping in to support our trade partners whenever a job needs an extra hand.
From raw land to a full reimagining of the home you already own, every project gets the same institutional-grade process: a real planning phase, transparent budgeting, weekly communication, and a team that's actually accountable to you by name — not a call center.
We take real pride in the work — not because it sounds good on a website, but because every project carries our name and our reputation in a community where most of our next clients are referred by the last one.
